Admissions > Financial Aid
Malvern Prep Financial Aid Program

Malvern is proud of its financial aid program and its diverse student body. An applicant's file has to be complete before he is reviewed by the Admissions Committee. He is then reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee.

Before a student can be considered for financial aid, all application forms and financial aid forms must be filed. Only those students who score in the top 25% of our Entrance Exam, have outstanding teacher recommendations, and excellent school grades will be considered for financial aid. Candidates should also have excelled in one or more extracurricular activities.

Malvern belongs to the School Scholarship Service (SSS). Parents are strongly encouraged to complete the process online by mid-December. Please visit http:///www.sss.nais.org. In addition, the most recent tax return with all forms, including W2s, are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee to determine a family's need. Financial aid is awarded by the Financial Aid Committee and awards are made to the extent that funds are available. We are unable to meet the needs of all candidates.

Selecting the right school is an important decision. The Admissions Office is ready to assist you in whatever way we can. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about the admissions process.

Academic Scholarships for Sixth Grade

Presidential Scholarships
and
Augustinian Scholarships

Based on merit and need

(Varying from $3,500 to half tuition)

Eligibility: Same as for ninth grade; based on testing in October or December.  To be eligible, the candidate’s file should be completed by December 1.

Need-Based Financial Aid for Ninth Grade Candidates

Students eligible for financial aid should complete Step 1 by November 16 and Step 2 (listed on the reverse side) before December 15 but not later than January 4.  Candidates will usually be notified of any financial aid award in January.  Applications are reviewed as they are completed until the class is full or until available funds are distributed.

The Financial Aid/Admissions Committees will only review completed files.
  • Read carefully the packet of financial aid information.  This information is automatically sent to you in October if you check on the Admissions Application that you are applying for financial aid.  If you checked “yes” on the application, you must submit all forms, including all financial aid forms, in order to be considered for admission.  If, after further consideration, you feel you do not qualify for financial aid, you must formally write to the Admissions Office to change your status before your son will be considered for admission.
  • Once all financial aid forms are received by the Admissions Office, the best candidates are reviewed.  Please note:  Princeton does not begin processing the SSS forms until early December.  SSS forms take two to three weeks to process unless you file on-line.  You are strongly encouraged to file on-line.
  • For parents and students who would like to visit Malvern before interviews can be scheduled, please see below for information on the Morning at Malvern Preview Days program.

Malvern Prep seeks social, economic, cultural, and ethnic diversity in its student body.  Excellent students who have a demonstrated need with various talents are considered for grants to enable them to attend Malvern.  The repayment of grants is not required.  The student must maintain an outstanding discipline record, have an excellent academic record, participate in school activities and sports, and have the recommendations of his teachers to maintain the grant.  Aid is limited.  It is not possible to meet the needs of all candidates who are qualified.  If you do not have a demonstrated need and have the resources or income, you are encouraged not to apply for aid.
